Choosing a funeral director - what should I ask?

Doing this ahead of time so my children never have to. I've asked three for itemised prices and the difference was enormous. What questions did you wish you'd asked?

Ask what happens if you want to sit with them beforehand, and where they'll be kept. That mattered more to me than cost.

Ask for the standardised price list. They should hand it over without hesitation, and hesitation tells you plenty.
